WYNONA (ARCHER) RYDER

LINCOLN – Wynona (Archer) Ryder, 85, wife of the late Thomas H. Ryder, passed away Nov. 11, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 23, 1926, in Chester, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Wyman) Archer.

Wynona graduated from Winn High School. She worked at Lincolnsfield Mill during World War II making cloth for military uniforms. She later worked for J.J. Newberry Co. for more than 25 years. She loved to do jigsaw puzzles, read, crochet, needlepoint and knit. She made many sweaters, mittens and socks for all the family and many friends. She enjoyed many camping trips in her motor home with her daughters and friends, and spent many hours watching her favorite sports teams: the Boston Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Lincoln.

She is survived by two daughters, Quita Ryder of Old Orchard Beach and Ruth and Ronald Weatherbee of Lincoln; grandsons, Jeremy Weatherbee of Lincoln and Andrew Weatherbee of Hancock; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Bryn, Ridge and True Weatherbee; sisters, Clara and Cliff Cooke Jr. of Lincoln and Shirley Converse of Marlborough, Conn.; a stepsister, Brenna Thornton of Old Town; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Thomas, she was predeceased by an infant son, Thomas Ryder Jr.; and brothers, Frank Archer and Clifton Archer.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Lincoln Congregational Church, P.O. Box 131, Lincoln, ME 04457.
