Virginia C. Phelps

Princeton-Waite - Virginia C. Phelps, 96, passed away July 25, 2008 at a Calais healthcare facility, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 4, 1912 in Waite the daughter of Justus and Grace (Rioux) Rideout.

Virginia’s most enjoyable times were spending time with her family, especially all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and knitting, especially Christmas mittens for all the family.

She is survived by one son Lee Phelps and his wife Margaret of Topsfield; one daughter Helen Dwelley and her companion Earl Bailey of Grand Lake Stream; one daughter-in-law Margaret Phelps of Waite; two sisters Charlotte Renaud and her husband Edward of Waite and Frances Dudley of Bangor; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband Donald Phelps; three sons Kenneth, Donald, and Rodney Phelps; two brothers Edmund and Warren Rideout; three sisters Jessie Sutherland, Elise Gould, and Iva Trask.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2008 at Dudley-Phelps Cemetery, Waite. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth.
