HOWLAND - Roger Michaud, 73, passed away Feb 13, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his loving family He was born March 20, 1937 in Caribou the son of Leo and Anna (Nadeau) Michaud. Roger enjoyed working outdoors from logging to carpentry, he loved working with wood. He took pride in his work shaping several structures that will stand for decades to come. He could rely on his strength building garages and camps piece by piece and assembling those pieces on site. He could rely on his wisdom from heading his own team of woodsmen and horses to operating his very own successful chain saw shop, the largest McCulloch dealer in New England. He also owned and operated the first trash compacting truck garbage business in Lincoln. His competitive spirit was easy to see in his hobbies and pursuits. He piled up tournament victories awards and trophies in everything from golfing, to state wide arm wrestling, to cribbage tournaments at the VFW. He also enjoyed card and coin collecting, watching basketball and golf, and hunting with his son, Stephen in Molunkus.
He will be lovingly remembered by three children, Allyson Howard and her husband, Steven of Bangor; Lorna Lyons and Peter of Lincoln; and Stephen Michaud and his wife, Jennifer of Lincoln; a loving friend, Althea Michaud of Bangor; four grandchildren, Adrianne, Camryn and Nathan Lyons and Matthew Howard; one great-grandchild, Audrey; one brother, Donald of Chester; four sisters, Cecile Shute, Edwina Ludden of Howland, Adeline Simpson of Presque Isle and Adella Bouchard of Florida; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Theresa and an infant brother and sister, Joseph and Jeanette.
At Roger's request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a graveside service in the spring. In lieu of f lowers, donations may be made in his memory to Eastern Maine Charities, c/o Cancer Care of Maine, or the American Cancer Society.
