RICHARD R. PLOURDE
EDINBURG - Richard R. Plourde, 84, husband of the late Frances V. (Ouellette) Plourde, passed away Jan. 28, 2011, at home with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1926, in Stockholm, the son of Hally and Odile (Dionne) Plourde. Richard was a World War II veteran of the U S Navy, where he saw action in the Pacific. Richard and Frances owned and operated Plourde's General Store in Howland for 20 years. He finished his 50 year career in retailing working for Hannaford and after retirement, because of his love of being with people, worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Howland.

He is survived by a son, Robert Plourde and Cindy of Howland; a daughter, Patty Hutchinson and Gerald of Edinburg; grandchildren, Aaron Plourde of Lagrange, Heather Campbell and Paul of Howland, and Megan Cronkite and Sam of Knoxville, MD; a step-grandson, Matthew Duque and Abby of Bradley; seven very special great-grandchildren, Kayla, Ryley, Emma, Benjamin, Nathan, Nicholas and Carter; two brothers, Bernard and his wife Florence, and Harold and his wife Jean; two sisters, Vivian Jay and her husband Ed, and Geraldine Russell; several nieces and nephews. Richard also leaves behind special friends, Joel and Denise LaVertue.

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Howland, with the Rev. James MacGee presiding. Spring interment will be in Edinburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CHCS Hospice Program, P.O. Box 425, Bangor, ME 04402-0425. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
