WESTBROOK - Osgood G. Holt, 52, of Wilson Drive, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 18, 2009, at a Portland hospital. He was born in Lincoln, the son of the late Ruth "Bunny" Hubbard and the late Gary Holt. He was raised and educated in Rhode Island, was a graduate of Bryant College and received his master's degree at Southern New Hampshire University. He served in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He was a former owner of Osgood's Department Store, a family business in Lincoln. Ozzie was a business teacher at Greely High School, Cumberland. He loved spending time with his children, family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Michaela and Matthew Holt of Portland and Westbrook; sisters, Sue Ellen and husband, Peter Vargas, of North Kingstown, R.I., Tammy and husband, Andre Lambros, of Palm City, Fla.; aunts, Joyce Russell, and Pauline and husband, Harland Randall, both of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday. As a celebration of Ozzie's life, please wear cheerful colors to the service.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for Ozzie's children in care of Wells Fargo Advisors Account No. 5124-8762, 2300 Southeast Monterey Road, Suite 200 Stuart, FL 34996.
