LINCOLN - Mike Gerry, 61, died on July 29,2008 in Farmington, CT. He was born on August 23, 1946 in Lincoln, the son of William and Edith Lyle Gerry. A 1965 graduate ofMattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, Mike worked for 39 years in the Material Handling crew at Lincoln Pulp and Paper Co./ Lincoln Paper and Tissue, LLC. He loved to work on his yard and in his garden. Summer vacations at the Bowers camp on Nicatous Lake and the annual Soiree celebration at Thanksgiving were favorite family times for Mike, Linda, their children and grandchildren. Linda, Patti and Glenn, Skip and Melissa, Kathi and Kevin, Rob and Kari, and Susanne and Tom are blessed to have Mike in their lives. He inspired them all with his strength and positive attitude during a time when most people would have given up. His long line of love will carry on in his precious grandchildren: Anthony Michael, Victoria Alexis, Zachary Alton, Ethan Charles, Eliza Jeanne, Benjamin Eastman, Preston Michael and Gavin William.
Mike is also survived by his brothers and sister, Paul and Barbara Gerry, Linda Jordan, and Bill Gerry and Betty Jordan; Linda's siblings, Pauline Bowers, Barb and John Tremblay, Beverly and Darrell Spencer, Mary and Dick Pelkey, Joan and Bud Smith, Ralph and Gichie Bowers, Bonnie and Lee Reardon, his special "Maw", Marilyn Bowers, many cousins, nieces and nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Edie, an infant sister, Constance Ann, his father-in-law, Linwood Bowers, Sr.,and brother-in-law, Linwood, Jr. - "Towser".
Visiting hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road in Lincoln. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, August 4 at the First Congregational Church, 19 School Street in Lincoln, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will be in Mt Repose Cemetery, Burlington. Mike wanted to be dressed in comfortable clothes for the funeral and we ask family and friends to feel free to do the same.
