SEBOEIS PLANTATION – Mary L. "Dora" Hussey, 92, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Cummings Health Care Facility, Howland. She was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Jackman, daughter of Nelson and Lena (Jacques) LaRoche.
Mary went to school in Seboeis and high school in Howland. She married Arthur E. Hussey, Oct 6, 1934. Mary was postmistress for 11 years from 1940 to 1951. She helped with observing planes during World War II. She was a member of Whitney Ridge Grange and was a big factor helping with a book on Seboeis History. She loved hunting, fishing, gardening, scrapbooking and yard-saleing.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband; a son, Nelson; and a grandson, Jon. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Cecilia Hussey; a son, George and Patricia Hussey; a daughter, Mary Anne and Gary Turbaugh; a son, Barry Hussey; grandchildren, April, Cheryl, Judy, Hugh, David, Thomas, Derek and Erin; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Deag of Connecticut; and a niece, Margaret Carr of Massachusetts.
Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Seboeis Cemetery with the Rev. James MacGee officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
