LINCOLN – Marie-Berthe Rancourt, 71, passed peacefully May 31, 2011, at her home. She was born Aug. 21, 1939, in Scotstown, Quebec, daughter of Ozea and Alice Cote.
She leaves behind her loving husband and lifetime partner of 54 years, Bertrand "Bert" Rancourt; and her five children: son, Daniel A. Rancourt and wife, Jeanne Marie, of East Hampton, Conn., and her daughters, Suzanne A. Warren of East Hartford, Conn., Cindy S. Schwartzkopf and husband, Jeff, of Aurora, Colo., Pauline S. WynDham and husband, Benny, of Spring Valley, Calif., and Carmen C. Aquilina and husband, Joseph, of Millinocket. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and one stepgrandchild, Robert and Daniel Rancourt, Justin Warren, Antony Tasca, Joseph and Michael Salisbury, Nicole and Jerry WynDham, and Joseph and Christopher Aquilina; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Adrien Cote of Colebrook, N.H., and Claude Cote of Asbestos, Quebec; and four sisters, Jeanette Duval and Francoise Duval of Sherbrook, Quebec, Cecile Hebert of Colebrook, N.H., and Therese Faucher of Cookshire, Quebec.
Marie-Berthe was born in Canada, married and had two children, then moved to Maine and had three more children. She then moved to Connecticut to raise her family, and worked with her husband in a rubber stamp manufacturing company. Bert and Marie-Berthe then opened their own business in Connecticut and moved to California in 1980. They retired in 2002 to Florida and in 2005 relocated back to Maine where she will rest.
The viewing will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, 64 Main St., Lincoln, for those who wish to attend. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
