LUCY M. LUDDEN

WEST ENFIELD – Lucy M. Ludden, 92, passed away peacefully Oct. 16, 2011, with her loving family by her side at a Bangor hospital. Lucy was born Aug. 12 1919, daughter of Kirk and Fern (Porter) Fogg.

On July 4, 1936, she married her loving husband of 61 years, Edmund V. Ludden. Lucy graduated from Mercy Hospital, Portland, as a licensed practical nurse and continued to work there for 12 years. She then returned to West Enfield, where she was employed by Cummings Health Care, Howland, and later retired as charge nurse after 15 years of loyal service. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, bingo, playing cards and her orange tabby cats, but her favorite hobby of all was her family. Lucy never missed a birthday party, graduation, anniversary, baptism or any other reason that might bring her family together, they were the love of her life and she spent many hours worrying about them. Lucy always had a very sharp sense of humor right up to her passing and this was enjoyed by all. She was a longtime communicant of St. Leo Catholic Church, Howland, a member of Enfield Elders and volunteered in hospice.

Lucy is survived by two children, Dalton Ludden and his wife, Edwina, of Howland and Ederle Lemay and her husband, Pete, of Enfield; five grandchildren, Tim Cloukey and Patty of Lincoln, Carlene Cloukey of Bangor, Jill Smith and Eric of Howland, Jeff Ludden and Stacie of Howland and Julie Smyth and Curt of Portland; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew Ludden and Amanda, Krystal Tracy and T.J., Kevin Levesque, Drew Allen Smyth, Anna Ludden Smyth, Jessica Simon and Damien, Tim Cloukey Jr. and Tricia, Travis Cloukey and Alicia, Justin Cloukey and Jessica; seven great-great-grandchildren, Hailey Marie Simon, Kaelyn Elizabeth Cloukey, Juliana Faith Cloukey, Madilynn Kate Tracy, Blake Carl Cloukey, Michael Timothy Grant and soon-to-come, Natalie Hope Cloukey; many special nieces and nephews. Also leaving behind, Lucy came to know and love another family joined by the marriage of Ederle and Pete: George Lemay, Roger Lemay and Linda, Paul Lemay and Terry, Maryanne McKay and Brian, Patrick Lemay, Richard Lemay and Shannon. She also leaves behind a special friend at Cummings Health Care, Sally Smith along with the assisted living staff. In addition to her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Edmund; five brothers and sisters, Keith Fogg, Maxine Harris, Dean Fogg, Gertrude Fogg and Louise Fleming; and a special son-in-law, Carl Cloukey.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at St. Leo Catholic Church, Howland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be left at Clay Funeral Home for the heating oil fund at St. Leo Parish, Howland.
