LEROY C. "RED" THURLOW, JR.

LEE – Leroy C. "Red" Thurlow Jr., 84, passed away March 22, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Kingman, the son of Leroy C. Thurlow Sr. and Lois Leach.

Red graduated from Lee Academy in 1945. He participated in sports while at Lee Academy, his favorite being basketball. He married Florence Pease in 1950 and they resided in Lee on the North Road, raising five children. Red was a hard worker and spent most of his life as a carpenter and farmer. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could build or fix most anything. After farming for 50 years, he retired and sold the farm to his son, Michael, and built his last house for him and his wife to live in. He remained active, riding his ATV, hunting, fishing and helping on the farm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved to tell stories to anyone that would listen. In June 2007, he had a stroke and since that time resided at Colonial Healthcare, Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; five children, Darrell and his wife, Shari, of Lindon, Utah, Dolly Dill and her husband, Buzzy, Michael and his wife, Elaine, and Carol Worster and her husband, Gerry, all of Lee and Sandy Mulligan and her boyfriend, Mike Downs, of Lincoln; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank of Vista, Calif.; a nephew and several cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson, Wade Allen Dill.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with LDS church branch president Philip Harmon officiating. Interment will be held later in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery.
