June Elaine Bowden

BANGOR - June "Meme" Elaine (Deveau) Bowden, 65, passed away March 8, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 15, 1942 in Vanceboro, the daughter of Barney and Mary (Trask) Deveau. She owned three gas stations at one time. June was a member of the Red Hat Society and she loved to shop. She enjoyed going to camp in Lambert Lake, and loved taking care of her grandson, Zach.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Bowden, and the light of her life, grandson Zachary Emerson, as well as an unborn grandchild, all of Bangor; three stepchildren, Greg and Gordon Bowden of Bradley, and Sherri Severance of Orrington; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Devoe and Liz of Bangor; sisters-in-law, Nina Hansen of Bangor, Ella Devoe of Lambert Lake and Sally Stewart of Bangor; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Irving Bowden and Esther of Bangor; a special cousin, Barbie McNichol of Danvers, Mass; many dear nieces, nephews and cousins and her best friend since childhood, Maxine Cropley of Lambert Lake. She also leaves her "granddog" Ebony and two kitties. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased her first husband, James Stewart, her second husband, Gordon Bowden, Sr; a sister Ethel and a brother, Bernard; two nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Robin Pritham, Dr. Jane Balboa and the staff at ICU, sixth floor, EMMC for the excellent care given to June.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Spring interment will be in Vanceboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave # B, Bangor, ME 04401. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home after the service.
