IVAN GERRISH MALLETT

LINCOLN - Ivan Gerrish Mallett, 92, passed away peacefully August 16, 2011. He was born July 8, 1919, son of Hollis and Helena (Pickering) Mallett.

Ivan was a 1936 Salutatorian graduate of Lee Academy and a graduate of Maine School of Commerce/ Husson University with a degree in Business Administration. He was Treasurer of the Lincoln Trust Bank for several years prior to starting his own forestry operations business retiring as a woodland manager in his 80's. In addition to caring and providing for his family while spending time with them at Silver Lake and #3 Pond in Lee, he truly enjoyed fishing and hunting every season. He was thrilled to catch the first Atlantic salmon of the year in 1981 after the Penobscot River had been revitalized and was invited to Washington, DC to present it to VP George H. W. Bush at the White House. Ivan and Phyllis enjoyed their friends in Zephyrhills, FL and their many years of traveling to square dancing and holiday rambler events. In 1998, he co-authored a Mallett history with his siblings entitled "Recollections of Bygone Days". Throughout his life, he was involved in various organizations including the Lincoln Congregational Church Men's Club, the Penobscot County Conservation Club and a Lifetime Member of the Penobscot Salmon Club and the Eddington Salmon Club.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Craig Mallett, of Lincoln and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife of over 60 years, Phyllis (Achorn) Mallett and a brother Howard Mallett of Lee and a sister Myra Snyder of Lincoln and Worcester, MA. He is survived by a brother Lloyd Mallett of Lee and a sister, Ruth Taylor of Lincoln: his daughters, Joan and her husband Richard Leen, Mary Jean and her husband Gary Bies, grandchildren Marianne and her husband Pat Cariglio, Angela and her husband Blair Shea, Shawn and her husband Tim Dumark, Britan and her husband Freddy Cheney, Denise and her husband Tim Hanson, and Brian Bies: great grandchildren Anthony Cuppernell Shea, Brooke Shea, Shawn Cariglio, Jaxen Cheney, Zachary Hegvik, Tyler Hegvik, Adison Morinville and Elijah Morinville; several nieces and nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, August 20th at 1:00pm at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with a service to be held at 2:00pm. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the funeral home. Family burial service following the reception at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
