HARRY JAMES CRAWFORD
WYTOPITLOCK - Harry J. Crawford, beloved husband, father, brother, son and local businessman passed away May 28, 2008 at Houlton Regional Hospital with his family by his side.

Born on June 2, 1935 in Drew Plantation to Percy and Delorosa (Cottle) Crawford, Harry learned trucking and mechanics from his father at an early age. He owned and operated trucks of all kinds throughout his lifetime, often with his brothers, Robin (Bob) and Dale along with him. Originally his company was known as Harry J. Crawford & Sons, but with growth in 1980 he changed it to Timberland Trucking Co., Inc. which his sons Roland and Tom took over upon his retirement. He made many life long friends in the trucking industry whom he liked to see and swap stories with.

Family was very important to Harry. Bean suppers on Saturday nights and holidays were times for him and his family to gather and catch up on events.

Harry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doreen (Tuck) Crawford along with his six children, Beverly and Donald Bubar of Lincoln, MaryAnn and Allan Hanscom of Wytopitlock, Maurice and Christina Gray of Medway, Kathleen and Clayton McKissick, Jr. of Orient, Roland and April Crawford of Staceyville and Thomas Crawford of Mattawamkeag. He also leaves behind four siblings. Joan and Victor Hanington of Millinocket, Robin and Lois Crawford of Lincoln, Dale and Donna Crawford of Drew Plt., and Janice and William Wilcox of Bangor. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Harry was predeceased by his parents. Also a son, Harry J. Crawford, II in 1967.

Per his request, there will be no funeral service. A family committal service will be held on Mon. June, 2, 2008 at the Drew Plt. Cemetery with Paul Gray officiating. As Harry would like, a gathering for food and storytelling will take place at 2:30 pm at the Wytopitlock Town Gym. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houlton Regional Hospital, care of Progressive Care Unit, 20 Hartford Street, Houlton, Maine 04730.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Hassan Aboulish and the progressive care unit staff of Houlton Regional Hospital for all of their excellent care, support and compassion for Harry and his family.
