HAMPDEN and LINCOLN - Hampy Daigle, age 85, passed away after a long illness on September 11, 2010 with family by his side.
He was born in 1925 in Eagle Lake, son of Renee and Odelie Deprey Daigle.
He entered the U. S. Army in 1944 serving at Panama Canal. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He then settled in Lee and later moved to Lincoln where he continued his long and successful career in logging and trucking. His wife currently :resides in Hampden, where Hampy spent the last few months of his life being cared after by his family.
He was a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus in Lincoln and a member or the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Waneta Daigle of Hampden: a son, James Daigle of Lee and a daughter, Linda Sproul of Hampden; two grandchildren; Daniel Sproul of Fort Bragg North Carolina and Nicole Sproul of Hampden. four great-grandchildren. Maverick, Miranda, and Rebecca Sproul of Hermon and Shelby Sproul of Hampden.
He loved flying and talked about his wish to pursue that as a career. He loved being outdoors and was a diligent landowner who managed his woodlands carefully. He was a very generous hard working man who was appreciated and respected by those who knew him.
A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln with a graveside service following at the Lincoln Cemetery.
