CATHERINE "KATIE" CURTIS
ENFIELD AND FLORIDA - Catherine "Katie" (Dobbins) Curtis, wife of the late Byron Curtis, passed away Sept 14, 2011 in Inverness, Florida. She was born Mar. 13, 1918, in Stockton Springs, the daughter of Clarence E. and Elizabeth (Trundy) Dobbins. She got her early education in the schools in Stockton Springs and went on to graduate from Eastern State Normal School in Castine. Later she earned both her B.S. and M.S. from the University of Maine in Orono. She taught school for 24 years in Enfield, Corinna, West Enfield, Howland and Burlington. Her teaching career was interrupted by service in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II when she served in Florida, Washington and Oregon.

She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Byron Curtis. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth "Betty" and Alden Mott of Elgin, South Carolina, and Christine "Chris" and Garland Wheaton of Homosassa, Florida, five grandchildren, Patrick, Adam, Cathy, Heidi and Katie.

There will be no public viewing or funeral. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Enfield Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P O Box 641270, Beverly Hills, Florida 34464.
