EAST MILLINOCKET- Catherine A. Babineau, 83, passed away Oct. 28, 2007 at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Dec. 16, 1923 in St. George, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Brown) Sampson. Catherine was a loving wife and mother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who knew her as "Grammy Kay-Kay". She had great faith, was a devote member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, a member of the Little Circle Daughters of Isabella and a member of the Legion of Mary. She spent many hours visiting elderly in an area nursing home. Catherine was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a skilled seamstress and avid quilter. She loved flowers. She especially loved curling up with a hot cup of tea and a good book. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Marcel Babineau of East Millinocket; four children, Mary Anne C. Lagasse and her husband Oneil of Livingston, Texas, Patrick Babineau of Olympia, Wa, James Babineau of Lisbon and Therese Babineau and her husband Patrick Kirch of El Sobrante, CA; two brothers, Joseph "Bud" Sampson and his wife Betty of Bradley, George Sampson and his wife Patricia of Oromocto, New Brunswick, Canada; three sisters, Mary McNight and her husband Cliff of Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, Alice Dinnick of Orangeville, New Brunswick, Canada, Theresa Gayton of Lincoln, New Brunswick, Canada; five grandchildren, Melanie Sibley, Paul Lagasse, Jordan, Andrew and Scott Babineau; four great grandchildren, Mitchell and Megan Sibley and Cameron and Noah Lagasse. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Molly Babineau and two sisters, Madeline (Sampson) Grant and Geana (Sampson) Swain.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m., Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln and from 12:30 to 1:00 pm Eastern time (1:30 to 2:00 Atlantic time), Nov. 1, 2007 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Milltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Eastern time (2:00 p.m. Atlantic time), Thursday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Milltown, New Brunswick, with the Rev. Bill Weiss officiating. Private interment will be at the Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery in Milltown.
