Lincoln - Byron Corliss Burrill, 83, husband of Barbara (Decker) Burrill, passed away June 3, 2008, at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. Byron was born April 20, 1925 on the Half-Township Road in Lincoln, the son of Stephen and Bernice (Fogg) Burrill. Byron worked in the woods with his father and brothers as a youth, using horses to yard out the wood they cut with bucksaws. Byron worked on construction and farming. He enjoyed his John Deere tractor and carpentry work. He also was a member of the Masons, Olive Branch Lodge No. 124 in Charleston Maine for 52 years.
Byron is survived by his wife of 45 years and 8 children, Bernice Burrill Stockley and her husband Alan of Chester Maine, Barbara C. Burrill of Lincoln Maine, Daniel B. Burrill of Rhode Island, Jonathan Richards, William Richards, Bonnie McClure, Rose Frazier, Edward Richards. Brothers Prince, Walter, Floyd and Carlton. Sisters Evelyn Burrill Shurtleff, Adria Burrill Wight. Several grandchildren, and a very special granddaughter Leela Briana Stockley who held a very special spot in her grandfathers heart. Byron was predeceased by his brothers Albert, Vincent, Dale, Calvin and David Burrill, Also sisters Beaulah Burrill Burridge, Pearl Burrill Owens, and Vera Burrill.
Visiting hours will be held at Clay Funeral Home, Thursday June 5 at 2-4 and 7-9, and a Masonic funeral at 7:00. Funeral Services will be held June 6 at 1:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Darrell Joiner officating. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Byrons memory can be made to the Penobscot Valley Humane Society on Park Street, Lincoln Maine.
